Phoenix Stamp Expo Short-term Identity

The Phoenix Stamp Expo is a fictional event based around stamp collecting and located in Phoenix, Arizona. The Expo required a short-term identity with the goal of creating a kit of parts to brand, promote, and orchestrate the event. In addition to various collateral aspects, a mobile app was designed to accompany the print materials and enhance the event goers’ experience. Through the app users can complete registration for the event, set an appointment to have stamps from their collection appraised, and view an event schedule, map, and FAQ section. The main event enhancement feature of the app is the Stamp Book, an interactive scavenger hunt-type activity to get event goers more involved in the different aspect of the event. Upon arrival and check in, guests receive their event kits. The postage-themed paper shadow box contains a Pocket Guide to the event as well as their Ticket Badge, and doubles as a safe container to store any stamps purchased or traded at the event. A unique feature of the Ticket Badge is the icon. Research showed that stamps are very diverse, ever expanding collectable item which leads collectors to narrow their focus down to specific types of stamps. Based on this, registration required users to select a broad category that best fit what specific type of stamps they collect. The icon of the chosen category is reflected on the Ticket Badge, with the intent to make finding like-minded stamp collectors easier in a crowd.
